After you pick your berries
Storing berries
To store fresh berries, keep them dry, refrigerate them in a breathable container (with a paper towel or a lined shallow dish), and do not wash them until you're ready to eat, as moisture causes mold. Proper storage can extend the life of your blueberries or raspberries for a few days, up to a week. Pick out any moldy berries first and use them up quickly. If you're looking to keep berries for a longer time, freezing them is the best option.
How long should I store berries?
Berries that are in the refrigerator can be stored for up to a week if they are stored in a covered container. Frozen blueberries can be stored for up to 2 years. For the best results when freezing your blueberries or raspberries, keep them as dry as possible before freezing. Lay them on a flat tray to help maximize drying, and then store in a container when you freeze them.
Baking with berries
Before baking with frozen blueberries or raspberries, be sure to sprinkle a little flower on them before they go in batter.
